The fire has been waiting. For months you have burned wealth and watched strange residue pile up in your inventory: Cinder Fragments, Ashen Relics, Phoenix Ash, Charred Crowns, and the rarest of them all, Damned Intent. They did nothing. They meant nothing. That ends now!
🔥 The Pyre
The Pyre is a new endgame ritual station where those five Burn relics finally mean something. You do not buy power at the Pyre. You give something up to reshape something you already own: lay a pet on the altar, feed the fire your relics, and hope the flames give back more than they take. Every rite is a gamble. Most pets survive the passage. Some do not.
For an in-depth overview, continue to the full post.
🕯️ The Altar and its five rites
Each rite consumes your relics whether the pet survives or not. A pet that fails the rite is gone forever, so read the survival chance before you light the fire.
- Cinder Rite: burns 1,000 Cinder Fragments to reroll a pet’s aura.
- Ashen Rite: burns 500 Ashen Relics to reroll a pet’s skin.
- Phoenix Rite: burns 250 Phoenix Ash to reforge the pet as a different base species. Focus runes can steer the draw toward species you are still missing in your menagerie.
- Crown Rite: burns 100 Charred Crowns and a Sialogogue to push a maxed tier 20 pet beyond the cap, to the Ascended tier 21. And for the truly committed: an Ascended pet leveled back to 100 can attempt the rite again, at double the cost, to become Transcendent at tier 22, the final tier. A Transcendent pet works twice as fast at its specialty and digs up far richer gem bags.
- Damnation Rite: burns a single Damned Intent to curse a pet Ravenous, and brands it with the Damned Aura. More on that below.
Survival starts at 50% and climbs with the pet’s tier: the more you have invested in a pet, the safer it is to offer. A rune adds a flat 10%. And the fire remembers your losses: every pet that dies banks pity points equal to its tier, raising your next attempt’s odds until something finally survives.
Even a miss leaves a mark now. A skin reroll that comes up empty chars the pet with the Burnt skin, and an empty aura roll leaves the Smoldering aura. Both are bonus menagerie unlocks in their own right, collectible per species.
😈 Ravenous
Only ~550 Damned Intent exist in the entire game. What does the rarest relic buy? A permanent curse that turns a pet into a gem prospecting monster. A Ravenous pet’s focus never slips while digging, and its veins pay out gem bags at rates no normal pet can touch, including the regular Gem Bag. The catch: the curse eats. A Ravenous pet burns BC from a prepaid furnace for every scrap of energy it spends, at 1 BC per energy, and siphons 5 energy per item found from every other pet you own. The curse is forever, and so is the Damned Aura it brands, a bonus menagerie cell you cannot get any other way.
⚱️ Coalescence
Sitting on a mountain of Cinder Fragments? The Pyre can refine relics up the ladder:
- 20 Cinder Fragments fuse into 1 Ashen Relic,
- 10 Ashen Relics into 1 Phoenix Ash,
- 10 Phoenix Ash into 1 Charred Crown,
- 1000 Charred Crowns into 1 Damned Intent.
Every fuse is a gamble at 70% odds, and a failed fuse scatters the whole batch. You can overfeed a batch up to 1.5 times its size to push the odds as high as 90%, but there is no way to make a fuse certain. Fuse in bulk and every batch rolls its own fate. The fire takes its cut either way.
📅 The new season: The Pyre
The Relay Network Launch season ended. Any quest rewards you have not claimed by then have been claimed for you automatically, so nothing is lost. Then the fire takes over: the new quest season, The Pyre, runs until December 1.
Season highlights:
- Relics in the quest track: all five Pyre relics drop as season rewards, from regular Cinder Fragment bundles all the way up to Damned Intent for the deepest grinders. Enough to try the rites, never enough to trivialize them.
- Six seasonal titles: Kindler, Firekeeper, Stoker, Scorcher, Immolator, and at quest level 5000, Phoenixborn.
- A new pet: the Goat joins as this season’s genesis egg exclusive, an explore specialist.
- Raccoons go wild: the Raccoon moves into the base species pool, which means it can now hatch from wild eggs, breed, and counts toward main menagerie completion.
- Salvage, twice: two repeating salvage reward tracks, starting early and scaling deep into the season.
The Pyre is lit with the season. Bring a pet you can afford to lose. Or one you cannot, if you like the thrill.
